Tweet Of The Night

davesftballblog: HT: #MLS All-Stars 0-2 #ManUtd. We should replace the All-Stars in the 2nd half with the Puerto Rico Islanders and see if anyone notices.

Day 3 of the World Cup tournament continues with three scheduled matches:

Algeria v. Slovenia [ESPN]: Group C’s final match in the first round of the breakout stage should result in a win for Slovenia.
Ghana v. Serbia [ESPN]: The first match of Group D should see Serbia emerge with a victory.
Germany v. Australia [ABC]: The match of the day will see a strong showing by Germany.

I engaged in a sort-of one-sided conversation yesterday with Georgina Turner of SI.com, apparently based in England.
She posted a live blog during the match.

Wet Nuts

Get your mind out of the gutter!
Here’s a great ice cream topping recipe that I picked up from around the Net.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Karo white corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups nuts (your choice, whole or chopped)

Directions:

  1. Bring all ingredients, except nuts and extract, to a slow boil over medium heat, stirring well.
  2. Lightly boil for 5 minutes and then remove from heat.
  3. Add vanilla and nuts, stir well and allow to cool.

Enjoy!

Ciao for now!
